A riveting show which left one wanting more. I loved the second section focusing on the bright colours (with some glorious examples, both from history and current practitioners like Oswald Boateng that were once such a feature of men’s’ clothing, particularly strawberry red and strong pink which were associated the masculinity not femininity. There was some acknowledgement of the influence of drag and pop artists and I could have done with much more exploration of this – but then that would have probably changed the focus of the show too much – and entire exhibitions could easily be built around both of these areas.
The final section on the evolution of the man’s suit was fascinating and very intriguing to seethe manifold ways it was, is and doubtless still will be, re-interpreted and re-formed.
