Cavernous spaces provided a spectacular backdrop to some vast textile  creations where a controlled colour palette threw emphasis on the skill and craftsmanship involved for modern creations. A major plus of this show was the fantastic range of materials and objects that had been gathered from all over the world (including many from the Oxford Science  Museum.  Most notably for me there were some astonishing astrolabes which confirmed the brilliance and advanced nature of Muslim science and maths at a time when much of the Western world had barely emerged from the (now unfashionably named) Dark. Ages.

The finish on many objects was stunning and some of this can be seen in the photo’s I took (My Facebook. Jan  29th).Great to see a genuine mix of Mid-East and West.
