Tbh I did not see all episodes (only 1,2,5,7 & 8) but it still has the stylish perceptiveness that marks Davies’ writing. We saw the lives of the younger members of the group and I very much liked the way we saw a repeat of their appearance, often very fleetingly, in Cucumber but now we follow a different character. This was the case with the penultimate episode - a particularly touching one - where a figure literally passed the others in the Canal Street but this time we turn and follow the new figure, not the group whom we saw in Cucumber. Very smart.
The final episode was a clever rounding up of the whole two series with it being a virtual two-hander for an (illegal immigrant with no English) cleaner and her female boss who are clearing out the warehouse - and the first episode of Cucumber was in that location which the characters had taken over. There was even, in, literally the final lines, a reference to an (unseen) event which connected to a remark very early on in Cucumber Episode 1 to a murder that had taken place! A very satisfying tying together of the series.
