Carlo Bonini & Giancarlo De Cataldo: Suburra
And done. Riveting ( and honest? ) view of Rome today. Events are well after Netflix version which is like the back story...which explains why I was so puzzled when characters whose names I knew from there got killed off early on...very early on in fact. The body count is terrifying though. And just as well had character list at front.
Masterly control of a multi-faceted narrative and impressive how strands all brought so slickly and convincingly. Samurai an amazingly vivid and terrifying central villain. A long but rivetingly easy read.
Now looking forward to picking up Netflix.
