Donna Tartt: The Goldfinch
Just started. Quite a word salad...
A little later: thinking 'too many words, my dear Donna'...But it is engrossing so in that sense ( the only one, really and logically) it works and is right.
Sadly but excitingly, only got two more sections to go...
Love all the idiosyncratic musical references.
Well, nearly there. Just got the final section to do. Have not found the last section, with focus on Theo and Kitsey nearly as involving. May have something to do with fact that having to read in smaller chunks and begin to think that you need time to be fully sucked in.
Not convinced by Boris revelation. Seems far too contrived.
Under 100 pages to go. Now in le Carre country...
Ok so now finished. Last quarter definitely less involving than what goes before. Once he leaves Boris but even so still impressive and the final peroration is pretty powerful. Will go for her second book now
