It was some time ago since I saw the first series but I started watching this shortly after that. But for some reason, it did not ‘work’ and I left it. Well returning to it after a long time, I found that this was just as god as the first series – quite unusual for a series of the quality and involvement of the first.
The plot both continues and does not continue from the first series with a number of central characters still in place – although the loss of a central one at the end of the first episode was a shock. However, this person’s toxically malign and considerably influence permeated all of this second series and their actions were central to the unfolding of the plot.
This was a dialogue-heavy show, but of first-rate quality and the depiction of the machinations of the various branches of government and business and the compartmentalization of so many people and actions was particularly fascinating.
A gripping story whose twists and turns were as plausible as they were rive ting. It would be wonderful if there could be another series…
