Succession Season 2: As riveting as ever and superbly well-observed.

This more than matched the first series and it continues the story in a gripping and plausible way. The quality of observation of the ‘ordinary’ live of the 1% is, it seems , wonderfully well observed and the characters continue to be superbly developed and engage with us in both highly positive and appallingly negative ways. Either way, our attention is held from the opening sequence with the marvelously atmospheric and disconcerting music.

The characters develop too; it would have been too easy for them simply to have remained as relatively blank two-dimensional figures with the main interest in the plotting but here it is much more with the character development and the revelations of their quirks (Roman and Gerri??!! What’s that about?).

Succession Season 3: The brilliance continues.

Close to Home: Murder in the Coalfield: Well above average, thought-provoking thriller
