#Code 8. Superb and stylishly original take on 'humans with special powers' trope

This was superb; a real gem. It reminded me much of District 9 with which, other than style ans originality of content, it shared a number of features. The world - clearly recognisable but yet futuristic - has an underclass of citizens who have been born with remarkable special powers but they are discriminated against and have to hide them. Our hero -an ‘electric’ who can control and generate enormous amounts of electricity- gets involved with a drug-running group to raise money for his dying mother. Its a riveting, involving story that does not offer any easy answers.

Characters are really well drawn and the story is very tightly focused and developed with an excellent ending - not wholly happy but wholly satisfying and true.

One of the truly excellent films I have seen at this lockdown time.
