Doctor Sleep. A sequel (to The Shining) that is as gripping and thoughtful as the original

Some may regard the idea of a film that is sold on being ‘a sequel to the Shining’ as heretical but, not so. This was a very decent, at times gripping horror/thriller with an intelligent response to and connection with, The Shining. The references were not thuddingly obvious or crass and McGregor was superb as the troubled Danny.

I liked the cinematic references back which were appropriate and ofen highly evocative - althuogh it was odd to see scenes from the orginal with different actors…
