Lakeview Terrace. Largely gripping thriller with thoughtful approaches to race relations

Were this a book it would be definitely counted a pretty gripping page-turner. The cast is excellent - the characters are well and rounded, drawn with effective backstories that make their actions and emotions more plausible than is usually the case in thrillers like these.

There is also a relatively nuanced view of race relations and inter-race relations that adds a refreshing depth to the usual thriller tropes - and the encroaching wildfires also add a very effective, near apocalyptic dramatic element, reminding us of the bigger picture of where people live and have their experiences.

A very sound thriller plus.
