These comments will be relatively brief. I posted many pictures of works from these on my Facebook pages at the time I was in Spain – in the case of this museum between Sept 22nd and Sept 29th, 2022
This was another relatively unknown gem, but the wisdom of @Rosabel Goodman Everard sent me there (as did the choice of area for Madrid accommodation). This was another originally private house which houses and beautifully chosen selection of a remarkably wide range of objects and paintings. The Goya connection is the main draw I suppose (with some of his best-known images) but much other exquisite material (see Facebook) which gave a really strong sense of one person’s eclectic and very fine taste. The original owner seems to have bene one of those very wealthy individuals who made wonderful use of his resources like the better and more socially conscious ‘robber barons’ of the USA such as Andrew Carnegie. It was lovely with this, as with other smaller places, to be able to encompass the entirety of the experience, unlike the mega museums. It’s a bit out of the way, in the northern part of the city but perfectly accessible and well worth seeking out.
