Samsara. Nagyhaz Galeria & Auction House, Budapest. Feb 25th 2022

This was a two-section event. The first, and the reason I went, was being invited by Abel Tamas, a young artist friend of mine who had a piece in the smaller event. This was a collection of pieces of original, largely 19th C or before, Hungarian art which a range of young artists had been asked to ‘add’ to. I have posted, with images about this on my Facebook page. What I did notice was how amusing many of them were - smiling and laughing at art (in a positive way) is still quite unusual I think, but the pieces were entertaining - and I think, without exception, they all improved the originals to a very marked degree…

The second, and larger part, was a preview of an auction (for a local children’s hospital, of a wide range of modern Hungarian art, a few pieces of which were reasonably interesting. Again, pictures have been posted on my Facebook page.

A good evening.
