Andrew Taylor: The Ashes of London

Andrew Taylor: The Ashes of London

Enjoyed this. A double narrated, one first person, one third person historical thriller set in the days weeks and months after the Great Fire. Decently rounded characters and a satisfying resolution...not least as not too pat and predictable. The ruin of old St Paul's looms over the whole book and it provides a thrilling finale.

Not great literature but a thoroughly good read nevertheless. It recalled, in a very genre/style connected sense with that first of an historical series of novels you introduced me to, Steve Patriarca, written by an ex High Master ( think that's the correct term) of Manchester Grammar.
