Graham Swift: The Light of Day

Graham Swift: The Light of Day

Well finished now and greatly enjoyed. Quietly powerful in a very British way where understatement is all. The story if outlined would be quite lurid but this is very interior view of it and has marvelously thoughtful things to say about relationships within families and marriages, the mystery of love - who we love and why - - and it is intriguing how the events and experiences of so many in the story many mirror and reflect each other.

Must catch up on more of his work now - although Waterland will be hard to beat.
