Neil Gaiman: Norse Mythology

Neil Gaiman: Norse Mythology

Well, read a few sections...mainly the ones I recall from discovering these courtesy, I think, of Roger Lancelyn Green. In particular two favourites... the death of Balder which set in motion the events of Ragnarok and which I always ( and still do) find the most moving and the very funny story of Thor impersonating Freya to retrieve his hammer and get out of paying for the impregnable wall around Asgard.

There’s some lovely dry Fsiman-humour in the dialogue, particularly Odin who is not, on a number of occasions, the sharpest tool in the box!

Also interesting reading this having read American Gods. Wonder if this was a form of pre-novel research for him or if it came after.
