Ian McEwan: Nutshell

Ian McEwan: Nutshell

Fascinating...it’s clearly a version of Hamlet ( the title, imagery and language details, plot) but the narrator/Hamlet is an almost due child in the womb! Nicely humorous too...the VERY smart and self-aware child wants to learn and so will kick go make his mother wake at night with insomnia leading her to listen to BBC World Service with the result that ‘they are both better informed in the morning’!

Now completed. Great fun and mid-novel irritation dismisses. Super vivid rich writing and love his expert wine comments. Good fun
