Fascinating reading this again after having read Belle Sauvage, the first volume of the new trilogy. Names and places pop up with meaning. And loved the postcard from Mary Malone which, I am pretty sure, shows key Oxford places, not least the bench where Lyra and Will separate and will then meet annually ( but in different worlds) as well as the place where entry was made with the subtle knife

Additional comments after reading the second volume of the new trilogy (The Secret Commonwealth).

And now many more details make sense particularly all the travel references to the Middle and Far East...
