It's going to be easier to write about this in two distinct parts..as a film and in terms of content although the two are, ironically (?) very closely related and the films success is dependent on this co-relationship.
The story of how some perceptive traders saw the oncoming economic housing tsunami and tried to short it is a complicated one although the books that the films author has written as remarkable for their clarity and wit but the film has this too. With an edgy almost desperate nervous energy about it, largely through the editing this reflects the edgy tenseness of the times and the situation. The use of direct to audience comments and explanations was an excellent and smart idea and not over-used as was the use of celebrities to explain the more obscure terms and concepts. Very original and clever.
In terms of content, absolutely infuriating given that no one responsible has been punished and even though I knew this the feelings at the end were as strong as ever.
Clever and clear, so do go see. It's going to happen again...
