A mature adult response to a story that deals with sexuality and human growth. The title character is appealingly flawed and struggling with her emotional development in 70's San Fran; very well caught visually and musically btw. At the start she has just lost her virginity to her mothers partner, the marvelously sexy, knowing but naive and manipulative Alexander S and tries to navigate the fall out and her own emotions with her friends, sister, mother ( the super Kristin Wigg). At the end. All are more or lesson a slightly better place and have learnt much...probably.
I loved the cartoon figures that periodically engage in inner dialogue with the title character or who comment on the events. A nice visual trope that at the end we realize signals her creative career route as a female comic artist.
