The Legend of Cocaine Island: Overly self-conscious 'wild 'n' wacky' documentary about a Florida-based modern-day treasure hunt

It wanted to be Tiger King. A bizarre story with an ending that even suggested that the whole thing could have been a massive FBI sting. The characters all tended to ‘act up’ for the camera as it relied heavily on the replaying of real events with the actual participants and they were invariably mugging for the camera. The baseball documentary Screwball with child actors being the participants in re-staging of events was the best and most original way I have seen of dealing with this issue.

The style of the shooting emphasised this irritating self-awareness - sudden freezes/close-up’s/zooms etc which became REALLY irritating. Likewise the music - over emphatic - and even the closed captions ‘music becomes anthemic’ (and I didn’t think it did).

Red Roll Red. Depressing and somewhat dully worthily exploration of a notorious high school footballers rape case.

Why did you kill me? Quietly powerful and illuminating account of a drive-by murder.
