Bordertown. Series 1 & 2. Nordic noir at its best

https://youtu.be/DjOFzeVynVY (Series 1)

Many of the usual tropes for this genre but they are all well done - the ‘odd’ central character with his unique methods of crime solving, often, indeed largely, a product of his Asperger’s, is interesting and in terms of his relationships with others, it shows how difficult it can sometimes be to work with people such as this - but it is done in a sympathetic and thoughtful way.

Within each series, there are a number of individual cases that are essentially solved within a short time frame but I did wonder if a greater degree of linkage between them might have been effective - in some cases only - I am not suggesting that in an 8-part series everything in every episode needs to be tied up. The personal/family thread is the main link between the episodes/series and is well and quite darkly done. I am pretty sure that the third and final series will start with some pretty devastating news about one of the main characters.

The Finnish setting is wonderful - everywhere looks so gleamingly clean and every house we see looks as if it is a contender for being featured in Architectural Digest - and the social settings are mixed; we are not in the multi-millionaire world by any means.

So, looking forward to Series 3 - no more it seems so I wonder to what extent it will be finally concluded or whether it will be left at least partially open for further series.

Equinox. Slowly-developing intriguing drama that resolved effectively and powerfully when it could have 'jumped the shark'.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Series 3. Largely involving and enjoyable continuation of the saga
