Equinox. Slowly-developing intriguing drama that resolved effectively and powerfully when it could have 'jumped the shark'.

This Swedish drama was unusually and grippingly intriguing - not least, perhaps largely, because the essence of the plot suggested a certain style and nature of resolution.

The plot slowly unfolded with good use being made of flashback and extension of previously-seen scenes which were well and justifiably done as the repeated part of the scene seen was then shown in a slightly new light, thus justifying the addition of the later information. It did not seem like cheating which, to often it can do with characters and situations being blatantly misrepresented the first time round.

by the end of the second episode, there was, frankly, very little that had been given away about the central situation (the vanishing of a group of graduating school students) and the series only consisted of 6 episodesghtfully steadt develpment was excellently maintained right to the end.

And very signifcant elements - a mysterious book, pagan beliefs etc etc - could all too easily have degenerated into a cheap Wicker Man/Midsommar rip-off, but here the resolution - without full explanations or justifiactions - was very effective and powerful and one simply accepted the supernatural elements for what they were. Full and rational explanations were not given and neither were they needed. The final, effecitively concentrated, scenes were really very movingly powerful, proividing a satisfying and cathartic resolution.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Series 4. The final series - an uncertain start nevertheless went into a thoughtful and satisfying conclusion

Bordertown. Series 1 & 2. Nordic noir at its best
