Adios Amigos: Impressive and moving drama that does not preach.

This was a good example of the random joys of Netflix in that I stumbled across this by accident and it turned out to be something of a moving little gem. Three 20-year olds, incapacitated for various reasons, who decide they will go on a holiday to lose their virginity. The film explored really well the emotions and frustrations that people in that position have to deal with each day in a way that was not sentimental – no nobility in suffering here and one of the leads was, for much of the time, frankly unpleasant and bitter -a change from the usual sentimental heroics that such stories often try to convey.

The lack of preachiness was the film’s most commendable characteristic and the ending was truly sad, powerful and emotionally and dramatically satisfying. A super film and highly recommended.

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. A thoughtfully engaging Indian drama with important trans theme.

Time Out. Touching and affective Indian high-school coming-out saga.
