Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. A thoughtfully engaging Indian drama with important trans theme.

This was a highly enjoyable not-so-little drama (it dragged somewhat towards the end t.b.h.) that gave a sensitive insight into a very contemporary issue – a burgeoning relationship between a not-wholly-successful weight lifter and a trans girl. The exploration of his conflicts and the conflicts that this led to within their families and friends was very well and sympathetically portrayed – and although it could be referenced as an ‘issue’ drama, it did not preach or sentimentalize as such dramas often do – certainly American ones. The bafflement felt by an older generation was very well portrayed and the film works very well as an introduction to the issues and traumas faced by the trans community regardless of country. The ending was a satisfying and as joyful as one could hope for -and the post-credits dance sequence was marvelous.

The Kill Team: Leanly gripping fictionalisation of a notorious Afghanistan incident

Adios Amigos: Impressive and moving drama that does not preach.
